ICT as situating tool
Situating
tool is an application that helps learners in an environment to experience the
context and happening. A flight simulation can also be one of the examples of
situating tool since it places the user in a situation flying environment.
Situating
tool can be useful when a certain real-life experience is impossible or difficult
to perform. For example if we want to go somewhere where we have never been
before, then we can use goggle map to find out the location and even the route.
Simulations
can be used to teach any subjects. However, I feel that it is mostly used in
science subject as it has got more features related to science. One good
example of situating tool is ‘virtual reality’ extension system; the computer
can create 3-D images on display to give the students the feeling that is
situated in the virtual environment. The advantages of using situating tool are
that you can guide the student’s learning and at the same time students also
get the supportive services from the ICTs.
