ICT
is used for communication. Now-a-days people are in touch with the help of ICT
(through chatting, email, voice mail, etc.). Communicative tool is broadly
categories into two; a) synchronous b) asynchronous. Synchronous is a real-time
communication between two people (e.g. face-to-face or phone call
communication). Asynchronous communication does not happen in real-time (e.g.
e-mail, vle discussion forum, we chat, blog, etc.). There is a time lag before
the recipients take in the information and offer their responses.
This
innovation plays an important role in teaching and learning. It also makes our
task much easier. It enables easy communication between the teacher and the
students. However, we do face some challenges while using these tools. For me,
I face challenges like; limited accessibility and network connection, lose
focus on discussion (synchronous). Discussion boards/ vle posts fail to
maintain the interest (asynchronous). Under ICT based communicative tools, we
have learnt about blogging. It is an online journal/ information website
displaying information in the reverse chronological order. I came to know that
blog promotes discussion and encourages the use of the internet among the
students.
Teaching
the students using PowerPoint presentation and showing videos does not mean
using ICT in teaching and learning. It must add value to the lesson and enhance
their learning.
Overall the reflection on communicative tools was worth reading. You have explained your points with appropriate examples with image. However I felt if you could provide link for video or more images than it would be better for viewers. Otherwise everything looks okay. And I like how you have mentioned some the challenges faced and some of the benefits of using those tools.
